Running for Syon and Brentford Lock Ward Council Elections 2026 as an Independent Candidate.

Hello!

I’m Aarti Nayak, a resident of the Hounslow borough from the past 18 years, and tax consultant by day (and mother round the clock!). I am running for ward councillor in 2026 as I am deeply passionate about improving not only the state of our community but also the representation of our interests and grievances.

Previously, I have been secretary of GSS UK, a UK-registered charity preserving culture and heritage, as well as held roles in school governance as a parent at my childrens’ primary.

Today, I ask of you to give me the opportunity to serve our community and I’d love to hear from you if any thoughts/ideas/concerns.

Standing as your ward councillor in Syon and Brentford Lock, my priority is simple: you and our community. Despite a surge in high-rise developments, vital services like school places and GP access have fallen behind—something that must urgently be addressed. Safer streets are equally essential, with too many residents still facing antisocial behaviour and feeling unsupported.

As an Independent candidate, my focus isn’t party politics but real local impact—listening to your concerns, championing practical solutions, and working tirelessly to deliver the improvements our area deserves.

Greater transparency

Develop a community dashboard where you can see the problems we’re working on, how we’re fixing it, provide feedback and catch updates on the local area. Whether that’s an event down the road at your local pub or roadworks coming up next week, we’ll keep you in the loop on everything happening in our community: big and small. Make it easier for you to keep up with how our borough is developing and growing.

Infrastructure first

Ensure before further development goes ahead, residents are informed, onboard and satisfied with how infrastructure improvements will keep up to pace. Whether that is roadworks, new buildings or traffic channels, make sure you know what’s happening and how you can reach us to share thoughts, comments and questions.

Local problems,

Local solutions

Target problems specific to our local area such as traffic congestion, antisocial behaviour, issues raised with waste collection and the effect of limited vehicle access for small businesses. Maintain a hyper local focus, representing our people and our problems. We don’t answer to a party, we answer to you.

Not answering to a party, only to you. Syon and Brentford Lock are our neighbourhood. Let’s make it better, together.
